Originally part of Tisbury, this Martha's Vineyard community became its own town in 1892 and is the agricultural center of the island and contains many farms. West Tisbury was settled with Tisbury in 1660 with Tisbury named after a Wiltshire, England town. Attractions are the Manuel F. Correllus State Forest, Long Point Wildlife Refuge, Polly Hill Arboretum, Old Mill, Split Rock and Grange Hall.
