About Trans-Alaska Pipeline

One of the world's largest pipelines is this 800-mile long, 48-inch diameter duct system carrying crude oil and having 11 pumping stations. The Trans-Alaska Pipeline is owned by Alyeska Pipeline Service Company and was built between 1974-77. It runs north to south from Prudhoe Bay through Deadhorse and Fairbanks to Valdez. The pipeline caused a major economic boost in Alaska and has been featured in several movies.
