About Tomar

One of Portugal's finest historical jewels, Tomar was born within the walls of the Convent of the Knights Templar, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre that alone is worth a visit to this enchanting town. While this richly sculpted castle and church forms Tomar's centerpiece, just down the hill is the main center of town is where well-preserved buildings from the Baroque, Romanesque and Renaissance styles can be found. The city isn't just a historical treasure as fascinating cultural events are held often, serene parks are a joy to stroll through and excellent local cuisine is all around.
