About The Lion of Venice

Located in the famous St. Mark's Square, the bronze lion with wings statue is said to be the emblem of Venice and its saint Mark the Evangelist. The sculpture is made of different bronze from various time periods, but its original is estimated to date back to 300 B.C. The winged lion symbol that represents St. Mark can be seen depicted in different ways and mediums throughout this Italian city on water.
