One of the few state capitols without a dome, this treasure of Nashville sits atop the sprawling green lawn of Victory Park. Designed by renowned architect William Strickland to model a Greek Ionic temple, the building is crafted from limestone quarried just one mile away. The capitol grounds are home to numerous monuments to important figures in Tennessee's history. Free guided tours are available each weekday, and if you time your visit right, you can watch democracy in action from the House and Senate viewing galleries.
