This New Mexico town within the Sangre de Cristo Mountains is three miles from the stunning Taos Pueblo and the community itself features wonderful Southwest architecture and is a great place to experience Native American culture. Taos was founded as a village in 1615 when it was settled as Don Fernando de Taos during the Spanish Conquest. Popular attractions include the Taos Downtown Historic District, Taos Art Colony, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, D. H. Lawrence Ranch, Taos Art Museum and nearby Taos Pueblo.
