This Bratislava Gothic cathedral was the coronation church of Hungarian monarchs from 1563 - 1830. St. Martin Cathedral's construction began in 1311 and continued into the 15th century with interruption because of limited funding and the Hussite Wars. The structure's roof is covered with a gold replica of Holy Crown of Hungary to commemorate the coronations that it hosted. The cathedral property contains catacombs and crypts including one of the Palffy family.
