The Space Needle was constructed in 1961 to be ready in time for Seattle to host the 1962 World's Fair. It was designed by hotel owner Edward E. Carlson and architect John Graham, Jr. The Space Needle has an observation deck that is 520 feet up as well as a revolving restaurant SkyCity, banquet facilities and a gift shop.
