About Seneca Lake

The largest of the Finger Lakes, this 42,800-foot body of water is often referred to as "The Lake Trout Capital of the World." Seneca Lake is the deepest lake in New York State at 618 feet and it is 38 miles long. The lake's south end has rocks painted with depictions of Native Americans, tee-pees and the United States flag. While some say the native Seneca tribes could have painted the Native American murals, others say they were done to promote tourism in the area. The Seneca Lake region is known for winemaking.
