This gorgeous Southern city situated along the Savannah River features historic architecture, Spanish moss-draped trees, beautiful gardens and charming residents. Savannah was settled in 1733 by British General James Oglethorpe. The 1994 non-fiction book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt brought an influx of tourists to the city during the 1990s. Savannah points of interest are the Savannah Historic District, Forsyth Park, Wormsloe Plantation, River Street, Pirates' House, Bonaventure Cemetery and the Mercer House.
