These 80-foot high waterfalls located in Hilo are named for the rainbow they sometimes create and caused by the Wailuku River running over a cliff and in to a gorgeous blue pool. Rainbow Falls are called Waiānuenue Falls in Hawaiian and are part of Wailuku River State Park on the Big Island. Hawaiian legend says the lava cave below the falls is said to be home to the Goddess Hina, who is mother to the demi-God Maui. Rainbow Falls are a popular attraction for tourists and surrounded by beautiful green tropical foliage.
