About Pilgrim Monument

The 252-foot tall granite tower was constructed between 1907-10 to memorialize the Mayflower pilgrim arrival in Provincetown on Nov. 21, 1620 before moving on to Plymouth, Massachusetts. Willard T. Sears won a monument design contest and his sketch is influenced greatly by the Torre del Mangia in Siena, Italy. Visitors can reach the top after walking up 116 steps and 60 ramps. The Pilgrim Monument's interior has many different brick donated by cities across the United States. Provincetown Museum is located at its base.
