Discover the Best Piazza Della Signoria Tours

This hub of Florentine life for centuries is lined with historic cafes and teeming with Renaissance sculptures. The L-shaped Piazza della Signoria is also where Savonarola conducted his famous “Bonfire of the Vanities” in 1497, setting fire to books, paintings, mirrors, musical instruments, etc., and where he was subsequently hung in chains and burnt as a heretic, and a bronze plaque marks the spot in front of Neptune’s Fountain. Piazza della Signoria is also home to a copy of Michelangelo’s David (the original is in the Galleria dell’Accademia) and the Loggia dei Lanzi, a covered gallery of statues.
