Capital of the Mexican state of Yucatan, Merida is the municipal seat of the Municipality of Merida and is the 12th most populous of the Mexican metropolitan areas. The city is highly influenced by British, French and Mayan cultures and has a large Mayan demographic and is also known for its many historical temples.
