About McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park

This state park's 129-foot Burney Falls were once called the "Eighth Wonder of the World" by United States President Theodore Roosevelt. McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park in Burney, California was established in the 1920s and named after pioneer Samuel Burney. A pioneer family by the name of MacArthur preserved the waterfall and land within the Cascade Range, and donated it to the state. Other notable park sites are Burney Creek and Lake Britton.
