About Jenny Lake

This sparkling lake reflecting the surrounding mountains is the jewel of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. Jenny Lake, formed more than 12,000 years ago by glaciers, has a surface area of 1,191 acres and depth of more than 250 feet. It is a popular spot for boating and is situated near many hiking trails. The lake is named after Shoshone Native American Jenny Leigh, who was the wife of Richard "Beaver Dick" Leigh. Both helped during the Hayden Expedition in 1872.
