About Frauenkirche, Dresden

A major example of Protestant architecture, the Church of Our Lady in Dresden features one of the largest dome ceilings in Europe and is a symbolic representation of reunification. Heavily damaged during WWII, the church was left as a war memorial for nearly 50 years. At the time, it was a part of East Germany, but after reunification of the German state the church was rebuilt, though it was not completed until 2005.
