About Corinth

One of the two major gateways to the Peloponnese is this ancient site. Corinth is located on the Isthmus of Corinth, a narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese with mainland Greece, and was one of the largest and most important cities of ancient Greece. Its most notable ruin is the Doric Temple of Apollo, which was built in 550 BC. However, most of the remains here are actually Roman, as Corinth was later the capital of Roman Greece, including the Temple of Octavia and the Roman Forum.
