This Spanish-revival style jewel of Coral Gables, Florida is a luxury hotel that once had the world's largest pool. The Coral Gables Biltmore Hotel was constructed in 1926 when the city's founder George Merrick and Biltmore hotelier John McEntee Bowman joined forces to create "a great hotel." It was designed the architectural firm Schultze & Weaver and hosted many of the world's elite including United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Vanderbilts and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor as well as movie stars Ginger Rogers, Bing Crosby and Judy Garland.
