This legendary oceanside restaurant offers breathtaking views and a storied past of high society, presidential and movie star guests, controversy and misfortune. The structure originally built in 1863 was ruined by fire in 1894, rebuilt in 1896 and survived a 1906 earthquake then burned down in 1907 and once again constructed to open in 1909. Cliff House Restaurant now part of San Francisco's Golden Gate Recreation Area has been renovated to its early neoclassical architecture with the addition of a Sutro wing and large picture windows.
