Wyoming's state capital city is nicknamed "Magical City of the Plains" and is the site of Cheyenne Frontier Days - the largest outdoor rodeo in the United States. Cheyenne was founded in 1867 by Union Army officer Grenville Mellen Dodge and named after one of the Native American tribes of the Great Plains. City points of interest are the Wyoming State Capitol, Lions Park, The Historic Plains Hotel, Union Pacific Depot, Governor's Mansion, Atlas Theatre and the Big Boy Steam Engine.
