In Braga, you'll find the 2,000-year-old remains of Roman occupation next to Baroque palaces, medieval churches and 18th century homes. From the 11th century Se Cathedral to the hillside sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, there are dozens of beautiful churches in Braga that play a large role in the civic life of the city. Aside from its importance as a spiritual center of the country, the city was named the European Capital of Youth in 2012 for its bustling university and large student population.
