The 62-story magnificent all-glass structure in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood is the tallest building in New England and a landmark in the city's skyline. John Hancock Tower was designed by Henry N. Cobb and construction was finished in 1976 for the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company. It was the recipient of the National Honor Award a year later from the American Institute of Architects. John Hancock Tower's Observation Deck has been closed since the 9/11 attacks in New York City for security reasons.
