The most popular geothermal spa in Iceland, the Blue Lagoon is located just 20 minutes from the Keflavík International Airport along the way to the capital city of Reykjavík. The water waters here are rich in sulfur, silica, and minerals that have been dredged up from 2,000 metres below the surface of the earth which a mixture of fresh and saltwater that's been heated at extreme temperatures. Due to the combination of silica, algae & minerals, the surface of the lagoon appears blue when it reflects sunlight, however it is actually white when not exposed to sunlight.
