About Beale Street

This Downtown Memphis thoroughfare was named "America's Most Iconic Street," according to a 2013 "USA Today" poll beating out other famous roadways across the country. Beale Street was created in 1900 and is lined with blues clubs, restaurants and bars for its length of nearly two miles from the Mississippi River to East Street. Notable sites are B.B. King's Blues Club, Memphis Rock 'n' Soul Museum, Beale Street Tap Room, Jerry Lee Lewis' Cafe and Honky Tonk and Mr. Handy's Blues Hall. Beale Street is a U.S. National Historic Landmark and hosts an annual music festival in May.
