The Arizona desert city surrounded by the Superstition Mountains is named after the junction of the Apache Trail and United States Route 60. Apache Junction slowly developed during the late 1800s and early 1900s along the Apache Trail as people flocked to the area looking for the famous Dutchman’s Lost Gold Mine. Popular city attractions include Goldfield Ghost Town, the Apache Trail, Lost Dutchman State Park, Superstition Mountain Museum and Superstition Zip Line.
