This port city along the Costa Blanca has cuisine to write home about and legendary nightlife. Since Alicante is close to airports and resorts, it has more tourists than some coastal towns in eastern Spain, but there’s much to see here too. The 16th century Castillo de Santa Barbara looks out over the city and has a museum for visitors. Alicante’s Museum of Contemporary Art (located in the 17th century Casa de la Asegurada) features works by Dali, Miro, Picasso and Tapies. Guests also enjoy long sandy beaches and Alicante’s historic old quarter.
